Late-January Doldrums

Here at the LRMHC, we strive to bring you as much information about our favorite Living-Room based pseudo-sport as possible. But after the Winter Tournaments, there is something like a two month long break until the Spring Tournaments. And as such, news and information to post blogs about is few and far between. Nevertheless, that won't stop me from doing my best to entertain both of my readers (And World-Culture. Who the hell are you?!?).

So at the Winter Classic, Post-Black Friday Champion and podium mainstay Bryan Feiler found himself at the top of the heap once more, claiming the very important 3 power points which are awarded to the winner. Ryan King came in 2nd place, and Sean "My name isn't spelled Doherty" Dougherty grabbed the bronze. Jon Zella won the Rookie of the Tournament award.

In addition to the usual LRMHC debauchery, the Winter Classic featured the very first outdoor match, between Bryan Feiler and Jon Zella. Feiler won that contest, 3-2, and all of the spectators agreed that it was a rousing success. The only changes people could think of for next year's event would be a mandate on cleaning the soles of your shoes upon re-entry to the Feiler household, as someone (I'm not naming names) tracked in some foul-smelling items.

There were quite a few scuffles in the Winter Classic too, as tournament newcomer Zach Nastro tried to make a name for himself with his fists, as he found himself unable to do it with his mini-stick. A variety of donnybrooks with Ryan McKenna, Tim McCann, and other assorted Irishmen brought plenty of excitement, but may jeopardize the LRMHC's attempts to be seen as a family-oriented game. More on that, hopefully with a response from the league soon.

Here are the standings:

LRMHC Winter Classic Preview

And with the new year the LRMHC Winter Classic is upon us. This wonderful event was planned to have taken place in Commissioner Feiler's backyard, but due to unforseen weather constraints, infrastructure problems, and the fact that no one wants to play on the concrete outside, this Tournament will be like all those before it, being played inside the Living Room. The fourth of six planned tournaments, this one will be played without head referee Don Applegate in attendance, as he will be upstate in Binghamton getting his cast removed.

As far as previews go, look for the usual names of Feiler, King and McCann near the top of the standings. It still remains to be seen if Sean "Ginger" Doherty can repeat his performance in the Holiday Extravaganza, or if Ryan McKenna can rebound from his dismal 1-6 record in his rookie campaign, where he had more fighting majors than wins, to no one's surprise. Possible newcomers include Zach Nastro, Ryan Fitzgerald, and Christian Hart, but their play depends on if they remember to show up.

Awards and rankings to follow after the conclusion of the Winter Classic, as we at the LRMHC prepare for the home stretch of this season.

Recap and Rankings

Well the rankings are up and the Winter Classic is only a day away, so let's first recap the Winter Extravaganza.

Ryan King won in Game 4 of a best of 5 series against Round Robin Champion Tim McCann, who finished with a 7-2 record. In third was Bryan Feiler, who despite only playing 2 round robin games, managed to claim some power points from this tournament. Other notable occurrences included Sean "Ginger" Doherty finishing with a 6-3 record after a dismal 1-6 showing in the PBF Tournament. Also, Ralphie continued to exhibit a liking for biting Ginger's crotch area.

After three tournaments, and at about the halfway point of the LRMHC Season, the standings are as follows.

In addition, the awards for the Rookie of the Tournament for the first three tournaments were announced this weekend. Ryan King won it for the Turkey Champions Cup, Tim McCann won it for the Post Black Friday Tournament, and the Rookie of the Holiday Extravaganza was David Sanders. Check back later in the day for a preview of the LRMHC Winter Classic.
